I'm decorating the hall and getting a fancy for a new balustrade, partly for aesthetics and partly for safety. Can anyone give me a ball park labour cost (ie. fixed costs) to replace a handrail, newel post and spindles please? I know I could get an actual quote but that would waste people's time if the rough cost is higher than I can manage right now. I'm looking at variable/parts costs to get an idea of the other part of the equation but need to know the cost I can't change. If I might be able to afford it I will get quotes.
The current handrail only goes half way up the stairs and I would like to go all the way as per the red line in the pic so probably need a half newel at the top too.
