Hi All,

I am looking at replacing the old banister/balustrade on my stairs pictured below. (removed already)

As you can see from pictures 2,3 and 4 my stairs have no newel posts and the old uprights were screwed to the side of the staircase.
It seams i am fighting a loosing battle as I can't seem to find a balustrade system that does not require newel posts.

So my questions are: can a newel post be fitted to these stairs? If so how? If not does anyone know of a suitable alternative?

Thanks

Tony

im sure you could house a newel post over the string at the bottom.
at the top again i think it could be done but maybe router out a portion of the newel so that it looks asthectically(sp) correct ?.
