The current diverter valve in our system is a Honeywell, probably dating from the late 70s. It's possible the model number is 8050 as that is what is stamped on the inside of the metal cover. Can't find anything about it on the net, so if I just buy a modern 2 port Honeywell Diverter valve, will it function/be wired up the same? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Will depend on whether it is a 3 port mid position valve or 3 port diverter valve!

The type number is stamped with print similar to a John Bull printing kit on one end.

Usually something like V4043 !

If it looks like the previous one it should have the same colour wires.

Be aware there are some dodgey ones on Ebay for special applications with no spring return or normally open or with no switches!
