Hi folks,

Looking for some help / advice on replacing the handset for the door entry system in my sons flat. The handset (Sirdle?) works ok but is old, tatty and a horrible nicotine colour. The local locksmith had a "new (very) old stock" one exactly the same as the current one in an lovely chocolate colour but I've been told the replacement has to be white.

The locksmith sold me a new (£45+) Videx 3000 series (3121A) handset and said that the numbering convention for the wiring would be the same and it would "swap straight over" (he also told me, when I explained what I was looking for, that the best man to advise me wasn't in today).

Unfortunately the numbering system is different (New "T 2 1 C - P 8 9" Old "6.2 II 12 11 ? 9 7 8 I") and I can't go back to the locksmith until Monday (cos I'm working). I'm hoping that someone can tell me which connection corresponds to the other.

Thanks

Go on intercoms r us website ( handset finder ) the connections are listed
The direct replacement for your old handset hta-411 is a hta-811 but it's going to cost around £110

You may struggle with the videk one to actually ring due to the call/bell generation on the siedle one and there might be a difference in analogue/digital handsets here. If the one sparky has mentioned is out of the price range you could try to clean up the old handset with some Cream Peroxide (12% - 40 Vol) and a cheap UV light source, this should bring the plastic back to its original colour.

FYI These are the terminal assignments for the Siedle handset(s):

11 Microphone Mi
12 Speaker Ls
9 Reference point for Mi and Ls
1 Audio privacy device pulse
c/8 Reference point call signals
b Power supply to chime
7 Actuation for door call (A =alpha tone)
10 Actuation for storey call (D =continuous tone)
G Actuation for chime (G =chime)
6.1/I Contact for door release button
6.2/II Contact for light button
