Replacing 12v AC halogen light with 24V DC transformer

Our house was built back in 2013 and one of the cupboards in the kitchen was fitted with a 12v AC halogen light and transformer controlled via a wall switch. It is only supplied with a brown/blue cable from the wall. I wish to replace it with a transformer to power some hue lights that requires 24v DC. I purchased a "kit" off ebay to do this, but it advises using a junction box before the transformer as that is the current regs?

Before I go out and buy one to fit, which I don't mind doing, is this really needed? Having only been fitted 6 years ago without a junction and its a direct swap. If so, I'd be interested to know the reason why its now part of the regs

As for being 'required', I can't think of any regulation, as such. Perhaps it means don't just use connector blocks; connections must be in an enclosure.

Does the transformer have a lead fitted?

Thanks for the reply. No cable fitted, just the usual 2 AC 240v in and 2 DC 24v out. A cable was supplied to connect on the DC side with the correct fitting for the hue controller box.

^ the current transformer, I was just going to swap it in place. If its safer/better to add a junction I will do so.

No. There is no point adding unnecessary items and connections.
