Replacing a 50 gallon cold water tank with a 25 gallon tank

Our shower has very low pressure and our loft tank has not been laid properly (so it's lid does not fit). The tank has no insulation, and I hate to think what's fallen into it over the many years it's been up there.

I thought I would fix both of these problems by getting a new tank installed, and raising it (to help improve the pressure)

The only tank that I can find that will fit through the loft hatch is a 25 gallon coffin tank. A tank of this size should be able to be raised about 80cm off the loft floor.

Will reducing the size of the tank, wipe out any gains in pressure that raising it will give?

Can you see any issues with what I am proposing to do?

No, but it could be likely to run dry.

You can connect two ( or more ) tanks in parallel.

If I connect two in parallel, does one need to be set higher than the other? Is there a kit I can get to connect them?

No they have to be on the same level, but you could also fit a booster pump to give you better pressure.
