My current cooker hood is plugged into a switched socked in the cabinet above it and is easly to get at. My problem is that all the new ones I have been looking at require fixed wiring, except for a Proline model which does state in the installation instructions that a 13 amp plug with a 3 amp fuse may be used instead if required, problem is I don't like that cooker hood. Is it possible to fit a plug to the other similar hoods if they have the same wattage etc? I know this would probably invalidate any guarantee as they could say it has not been fitted as per instructions, but as the one I want is only £69.99 this is not a problem. I am more concerned about safety. I had a similar problem when I replaced my built in oven last year and had to go for the one I could get with a plug. Is replacing the hood notifiable or is it only if I change the wiring? Thanks very much for any help you can give me.

most cooker hoods are under 3kw (unless you are buying an industrial one). They are around 300w max. therefore all can be wired into a plug, or, ideally, into an FCU

If it's fixed to the wall, then it is notifiable, even if plugged in.
