Replacing a Randall 4033 programmer

Found the following from an earlier post:-
Randall 4033
1 L
2 ch on
3 ch off
4 hw on
5 hw off
6 L (link to 1)
7 N
8 E
current wiring to Randall unit is as follows:
One main query, one cable connects to pins 6, 7, 8 therefore supply cable.
Another cable connects to 2, 4, 5.
There is no connection to terminal 3??!! - any ideas as to why I haven't got any connection to this terminal? - the programmer in its current state appears to be working correctly?
