Replacing ceiling light with fan & light

What is the easiest type of ceiling fan to install? Currently have a basic ceiling rose with a dimmer switch.

Wondering how the fan and light can work independently without updating the wiring... Don't really want to do that. Are there fan lights that are on all the time, with both operated from a remote? Although, would be annoying if the remote is lost in the middle of the night!

They often have two pull cords hanging from them - one for fan, one for light.

The dimmer will need changing to normal switch

Remotes usually have dimmer function

Remote is primarily for the fan function

Switch can be used as a normal switch in winter.

Might actually be ok with hanging cords. But under instruction to get a quiet fan, that is priority. And it has to be white.

Thankfully they tend to be quiet.

I would really recommend one with a timer function, so fan can shut off after 2 hours.

Some hot summer nights I have left it running all night.

The usual method is to have the light on the fan connected to switched line and controlled by the wall switch,
the fan connected to permanent line and controlled by the pull cord on the fan itself.

That makes sense. I'll take the fitting off and see what I have there before buying anything.
