Replacing clay plain tile on back pointed roof?

How does one go about it?

Obviously I can't just lift the tiles around it other wise I assume I'll dislodge all their mortar interally?

I am guessing the best way is to identify the tile internally, chip away that mortar only? But how to I lift it of the rafter without disturbing the others?


Is there a trick of the trade method?

Its called torching, replace the tiles and repoint any torching which falls out.
