I have a standard spur fuse switch controlling an extractor fan, but I don’t won’t the fan to activate between 20:00 and 09:00.
Can I replace the switch with a timer switch?
How do you wire the 6 cables into 4 points on the timer switch?
Cheers
Iggy

As said, items like this

can allow control both timed and with voice control. But the immersion heater timer

has for years combined a time switch and fuse. I must admit I would convert to a plug and socket, and use a plug in control

OK, it needs a hub, but I already have the hub, and if it fails, so much easier to unplug and replace to messing around with hard-wired devices.

I purchased a timer switch.
It has live IN and OUT and neutral IN and OUT and an earth terminal.
The issue I have is I have 2 live, 2 neutral, 2 earths and then 2 black wires.
What do I do with the 2 black wires.
The current extractor spur switch has brown to L1 COM, black to L2 and blue to N COM on the top and on the bottom brown to L1, black to COM L2 and blue to N.

Now you have eight wires now???

I think we need a picture.

Looking online, it is suggesting I need a no-neutral smart switch.

Put the permanent lives together in a connector and just time the switched live...

Never done it, try it, should work

Could you please post a photo of the front of that?

It’s an extractor fan switch on the front, with no wires the back has the attached picture.
I now understand this is an extractor fan switch with overrun.
I have ordered a Shelly 1 Mini gen3 to wire in the back box.

It’s an extractor fan switch

Also, it's the isolator, not the functional switch - you don't use that to turn the fan on and off.

I don’t won’t the fan to activate between 20:00 and 09:00.

Seems odd that if you actually need the fan at all you wouldn't want it to be inactive for more than half the day.

You need to retain the isolator - put the timer before it, connected to N & permanent L.

Why, when you have a neutral there?

Not being rude, but that's bonkers. You don't need that level of automation And in any event it doesn't meet your supposed "no-neutral smart switch". Not that that matters, as you don't need a switch that doesn't require a neutral.

You can make it work, but talk about overkill...

You don't even need the Timeguard FSTWiFiTU. Some people here are Home-Automation-Wireless mad, I'm afraid. A Timeguard FST24 or equivalent will do just fine. Or this, at a fraction of the price.

It won't - the timer will lose its supply every time the (light?) switch is turned off. Use it to control the permanent live to the fan.

As said, items like this View attachment 403266 can allow control both timed and with voice control.

Who the <bleep> needs voice control for a timer switch which limits the hours of operation of an extractor fan?

I must admit I would convert to a plug and socket,

Might be a bathroom?

and use a plug in control View attachment 403272 OK, it needs a hub

This doesn't need a hub

Nor any of these, if you want plug-in
