Hi
I need to replace my facia boards
How easy is this, i,m lucky in that i can reach 75% of the roof and have the use of a cherry picker for the other so this is not a problem
I am also aware i may need to replace some of the (gable ends)
I think thats what there called where the roof meets the wall
As they may have damp as well.
I,m looking at pvc replacement they seem quite cheap
I would be greatfull for any advice you can give

The gable end bits, do you mean barge boards?

uPVC is cheap, and that's its ONLY "benefit". Or is it cheap? You can't do anything to fix it if you get a problem, and how long is its life? Wood properly treated (and you can look through my other posts) will outlast you, and only needs attention every 7 years (but not if you use modern paints, when it last for much less and need more maintenance).

As you have access, it's a doddle. (Wish I had a cherry picker :( )

you still need the underlying wood to be sound and secure
replacing all but the smallest decayed sections
having said that where 2upvc components join you need a good fixing to hold them together

you may also need to provide ventalation vents if the roof is felted
