I've got a Hotpoint wdm73 washer/dryer. The machine has just started making a sound like a hammer drill and won't drain, a message appeared on the display saying "check outlet pipes".

After a bit of digging on the internet i've found out the drainage pump needs replacing (some bloke had the same problem). Is this job rocket science or could a fool with a spanner like myself attempt it? Cheers....

I would first of all spin the drum by hand too see ifits noisey (see here

if it is ok then io would check the pump and its filter.

un plug m/c dissconect all pipes very carfully lay it on its back WARNING! they are very heavy

you can then see the pump

Hi

See that you hav e the same washer/dryer as me. I cant answer your problem but can you help me wth mine? I swtich the machine on and it comes up with "select programme" which I do. Then I go to start and nothing happens. It does not "beep" either. Should it? What could be wrong? I am very frustrated with this machine. No water comes into the machine either, all the taps are on.

chris

Many thanks
