It's a difficult choice to make....stick with an older boiler that on paper is not particularly efficient but is normally very reliable or get a new boiler and loose:
say £2000 capital cost of the installation
lost interest
servicing costs (you must have proper servicing carried out on condensing boilers)
breakdowns etc.
Given that many installations are of poor quality, most boilers are of dubius design and quality, manufacturers warranties are often worthless, parts are extortionate, very few installers have the knowledge to repair the latest boilers, then the potential gas savings (often exagerated) will not cover the outlay.
Overall I defy any customers to prove they have saved money after everything is taken into account. Perhaps on very large properties owners may gain.
