I need to replace this old Adelle bathroom air-extractor which has recently packed-up.

Unfortunately the modern equivalents are all much smaller, flush mounted jobs. If I remove the failed item there will remain a larger aperture than the replacement item can fill. The Adelle model measures 270mm x 170mm whereas the modern replacements seem to be around 170mm x 170mm. Would anybody be able to suggest some material of panel that could be used to take up the space and accommodate the new item and (the difficult bit) not be too noticeable against the white plaster ceiling.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would suggest fitting a section of uPVC, about 6-10 mm thick, over the hole, and fit the new fan to this. If the new fan can be centre to the UPVC, it may look more pleasing to the eye.

Thanks alot, SW. Yes, that sounds like the sort of thing. It only requires a piece about 300mm square or so. Any idea where this sort of thing could be obtained?
