replacing old plastic faceplate with new chrome faceplate

i cannot seem to get my replacement chrome faceplate working i have wired it in correctly( turned on mains and worked) yet when i screw it in it fuses where am i going wrong

Too much copper showing on the conductors which are touching the back box or there is a wire under the back box screw which you are tightening onto.
If the latter you'll have to repair the damaged insulation.
 
another alternative is that the backbox is live and screwing the faceplate on connects the live backbox to the earthed front plate..

the cables may be snagged on the knockout holes if they are missing gromets..

:eek:ops cheers for the advice but it was my stupidity i mixed the earth with the nuetral :oops: dooh!!! supprise surpise they all work now
