Hello all - First post on this forum - hope someone can advise please....
I am pretty sure the pressure relief valve needs replacing on my combi boiler and wondered if anyone has replaced one on a BG C1 aka Worcester Bosch 28si II.
I remember the pressure nearing 3 bar at one point on the combi and next thing I knew the pressure was down to 0 bar - the pressure relief valve must had kicked in and sure enough water was coming out the discharge pipe outside.
A little research has enlightened me that when the PRV releases water, it is likely to need replacing as the valve may have dirt inside making it unable to close. Sure enough - after repressurising system to a stable 1 bar - water is still being released outside.
I phoned worcester bosch technical who also believed the PRV needs replacing. The techie on the phone stated that it would be quite an easy job even for an amateur. Advice was to release water through a radiator (3 buckets full) turn boiler off and unscrew a couple of nuts connecting the PRV and replace. He said it was ok to be do this myself as I would not be tempering with the gas.
A few quotes from plumbers in my area averaged around £100 - £150. I am very tempted to have a go myself buying the part from Plumbcenter or similar.
Therefore I would like to know if anyone on this forum has replaced the PRV on their Worcester bosch or indeed any other combi as I would imagine the process would be the same.
If successful - we could turn this into a sticky.
Many thanks and (sorry for the long post!!)
