Ive just bought a new room stat for my CH system I currentlty have a Potterton PRT2 which is not working quite well.

I Have purchased a Salus RT300 and was told it would just be a straight swap.

The wiring at the moment for the PRT2 is

5 - N - Blue wire
4 - TL - Red wire
3 - H - Yellow wire
2 - nothing except a jumper from 4

The Salus RT 300 has three conection points these are

Live
Switched Live
Earth

I understand there is no neutral require for the Salus RT300 and the Earth is fitted to the earth connection point! Any help would be very supportive?!

I think you already know what to do but just need re-assuring ;)

Make safe the blue so it can't touch anything live, and don't worry about an earth unless the instructions specifically say you need it.

Most modern room stats do not require any earth connection.

Cheers for the information and the support. Just to confirm the wiring is

Red - Live
yellow - Switched live
Blue - made safe
Earth - not needed!!!!

The Rt300 has an earth contact!
Should I use it or not?

Cheers Steve.

If it has an earth contact and you have a proper earth wire there, then connect it.
