our bath has a kind of plastic coving strip around the edge sealing it to the wall. When the bath is filled a slight gap appears along the edge of the strip which touches the top of the bath. The gap is too small to get any sealant into so when we run the shower water gets into the gap and down the wall behind the bath. I've tried covering the whole strip in sealant but the sealant doesnt stick to the bath. Everywhere along the strip is covered in mould . Should I remove this strip and just put sealant between the bath and the wall.

Yes. A thousand times yes.

if you remove the strip the gap will be bigger won't it???

rub white spirit around the edges of the areas your going to seal first to clean it and get rid or any water.

and as kev said fill it and leave it filled for at leat 24 hours.

Use LOW modulus sealer WITH FUNGICIDE if you can find one. They stretch further.
Try Dow Corning
