I am the first house on an unmade road which has now become a major problem re flooding and potholes etc.
As it is unadopted the area in front of my property is my responsibility.
I have had a few quotes for the area I am responsible for which is approx 20 metres long by 6 metres wide but these are in the region of £6k
As the other residents are not bothered about resurfacing their areas I do not feel inclined to spend the above amount on my section which they will drive on to access their houses.
My question, I am considering doing it myself by hiring a compacting vibrator and filling in all the depressions with gravel.
Does anybody have any experience of this and do my proposals seem feasible.

Road planings are only allowed on roads on agricultural land (if I'm reading the info correctly)For the OP , road planings are the old bits of tarmac they plane off road surfaces when their being re-done. ;) ;)

MOT type 1 roadstone would be best. It might not last forever, but you can keep on "doing a bit" i wouldn't be keen on spending 6K to benefit the neighbours myself!

Buy a 4x4 jeep.
Guy we did some work for recently just had a quote of £6k to coat his lane with 3" of tarmacadam.
Its 200m long x about 2.6 wide.
