Retaining wall - sealing top without coping stone

Hi,

I've made a retaining wall using 440mm dense blocks (20kg) on the side, so ~210mm wide. On to this I'll add a small fence which is the reason for not wanting coping stones, however I'm aware that in winter water might get into the top, freeze and damage them.

Despite googling I couldn't find a go-to answer. I'm thinking epoxy sealing the tops, or some sort of rubber paint on the tops and front?

Cheers, Andrew
