Hello, unsure if this should be in roofing as it's technically roof tiles.
I've stripped the tiles and laths from our bay Window with the goal of insulating the void and retiling.
The void was insulated from the inside wth celotex some years ago but only between the studs and not taped or a layer of insulation on top of the studs before it was plastered etc.
This hasn't caused problems so far but is there anything I can do from the outside to make things better and future proof?
Do I need an air gap between the existing insulation and the new membrane?
Assuming it needs to be breathable membrane aswell?
With regards to the leadwork, we have stepped lead down both sides of the bay that needs redoing, ideally I'd like to get rid of it all together but can appreciate that it's stopping any driving rain from getting past the tiles and behind the membrane.
Saying that, I've seen numerous bays with no lead at the sides. Is there a right way and a wrong way to do this? Could I tile right to the brickwork and use something else instead between the gap?
