Retractable water hose

Depends what's wrong. Can you get the reel apart to see if something's broken or has just become detached?
 
The hose is still attached and fully extended. It just won't go back. I'll take it apart tomorrow.
 
Took it apart and the inside became mangled. Have cut the hose off and thrown the rest away.
