hi all,

With the high winds last week, the end ridge tile to the new extension blew off, landing on the rear roof of the new rear extension, damaging a tile there too!!! Luckily it missed the new velux!!!

Roof was only fitted a few months ago.

The roofer has no issue coming back to remedy the problem and stated the ridge tile were 'dry fixed'

Can someone explain what this is?

I wasn't privy to the conversation as I'm abroad and SWMBO has chatted with him

He also stated to secure it good and proper he could bolt it on.

The roofer is a great lad and good worker so I have no issue with the work and there have been no other issues

Would anyone just be kind enough to explain the fixings to me.

Cheers

:)

It means the ridge isn't fixed down with mortar, as for the fixings that can vary, there are so many different systems

Regardless of fixing system, the last two ridge tiles in a row need to be tied to the ridge beam. You get special security tiles with a stainless steel wire attached inside.
