I'm trying to change a kitchen tap, but what I've found is the old tap seems to be attached very tightly.
Am I right in thinking I'm supposed to keep the wide left hand nut in place and turn the narrow right hand one in the direction shown?

They just seem to want to move in the same direction much much more than they want to move apart and I don't want to be doing something wrong and break something.

Make sure you have turned the water off before trying to undo them.
I'm not being sarcastic. Someone I knew, with a modicum of intelligence, once thought he had isolated the pipe work by simply turning the sink tap off! It was an expensive mistake to make, (and didn't please his girlfriend either!).

Thanks very much, that did the job.
I realised all to late the new tap had a different kind of fitting from the old tap anyway, so I've had to put it back together for now

Is there any easy way around this or will I likely have to get a different tap?
