Hi guys, as header.

We've had a heating oil smell in the boiler cupboard fro 3 days.
Today I took the Burner cover off & could see oil on the baseplate.
I've tracked the leak (its 1 drip very 7 seconds when the boiler isn't firing) Its coming from the pump pressure regulator housing through the threads of the regulator housing.
Isolating the oil fed to the burner stops the leak.
I've removed the adjuster locknut & checked the O ring on the adjuster its flattened but not obviously failing.

Any advice/suggestions welcomed.

I expect to have to get an engineer in to set the pump pressure correctly & do a flue gas check when i've decided if I can fix the leak or should change the oil pump complete.

FYI, the Boiler was installed in 1997. It may have had a replacement pump in 1999. Other wise apart from regular nozzle changes & the filter screen in the pump housing its been trouble free .

TIA for any help
ps thank goodness we've got the oil vaporising burner Rayburn as backup!

If it is leaking, then obviously it is failing. The 'O' ring can be replaced, but having done so you will need to reset the oil pressure.
