Hi, I have wrapped 5 metres of trace heating cable around 15mm pipes which has a thermostat to turn the heating on at temperatures below 2C.
The instructions say the trace cable can be plugged into a socket but I need to extend the cable to reach the socket. However, the instructions give no indication of ampage or energy consumption so I am not sure what type of cable would be suitable for the extension.
The 'cold end' cable leading out of the thermostat that needs to be connected has the following stamped onto it's sheath.
KS C IEC 60227-5 300/500V 60227 KSV IEC 53(VCTF) 3cx0.75mm2 WON ILL 2011 (LF)
I would be pleased if someone could advise, in laymans terms, what cable I would need to complete the 3.5 metre distance between the trace cable and the socket.
I have looked at cables with 0.75mm2 cores but they are only rated at 6 amps. Is that enough?
