Ring Doorbell install question

Hi

I’ve got a new wireless/battery ring doorbell and wondered if it’s ok to put it on the actual door itself? The door is wood so would be the easiest place to attach it. Or is there a reason not to?

Current doorbell is on the harling just to side of the door like normal but that makes it harder to screw in straight etc.
