Hi, as it's difficult to disconnect (source of cables inaccessible) would the following be acceptable?
Crimping or using some other acceptable means of joining the cables (to replace the current joining strip) and then fitting a flush blanking plate before covering with a cooker splashback thereby rendering it permanently unaccessible.
I have a sparky coming to take a look but as always I like to be armed with some knowledge beforehand.
Thanks

Will your hidden blank plate mean that there will be no other way of determining the run of the cables (i.e. In "safe zones")?

Are there other sockets/accessories that will identify the cables?

The regulations state that inaccessible joints may be made by:

a compound filled or encapsulated joint, or
soldering, welding or appropriate compression tool, or
maintenance free, to BS5733, junction boxes.

If you are covering it with a splashback you can afford to be a little harsh with the walll behind?
So a spot of digging may help determine where the cable goes/comes from

This doesn't mean you can use the crimping sets that cost about £5 in car part shops!
