riser kits are terrible things and don't last long
Nice solid plinth spanned across the joists with an 18mm ply top. I use a 63x38mm CLS but depends on high a rise you need.
Some use flexible tile adhesive, some us sand and cements, I use silicone adhesive. Never had the need to use anything else.
