Robins

The Robin is well known in British gardens. It is relatively unafraid of humans and will come close when anyone is digging soil in order to look for worms. Apparently robins in continental Europe are more wary.

Why are robins in continental Europe more wary of humans than in the British Isles?

perhaps it's genetic adaptation by relative advantage...

In Italy and france songbirds are shot

The breeding stock of friendly robins gets wiped out; future generations are bred from the more cautious birds.
