Hi

I’ve just had recently skim plastered walls done. What’s the best method to fix roller blinds?

The rollers are not recess fit as the windows are tilt n turn, so hang over.

option 1 fix a wood strap onto wall and secure blind brackets

option 2 fix bracket straight to wall, brick and plastered walls

Thanks

Hi,

it's basically up to you! :)

Adding a wooden batten allows some flexibility in where you put mounting holes; useful if you start to drill in one place and find a loose area that a wall plug won't stay in.
It also gives you flexibility if you mess up the bracket spacing; you just rescrew them into a different part of the batten, rather than having to redrill the wall.
The batten can also be reused if you decide to mount a curtain rail at a later point.

However, the batten will take the brackets, and hence the roller blind, further away from the window; possibly affecting privacy and shading.
