but it has been suggested that the police are arresting or detaining for questioning 50 romanians per day

last year police in England & wales arrested 19, 841 Romanians.

Possibly most for vagrancy/begging, some people done several times. The government then pays for them to go home, they shove them on a plane, wave bye bye, & hey presto, 2 weeks later they're back and the farce starts all over again. We have all the powers needed to sort this out. Have proper entry and exit checks and we could have resolved these issues.

Precisely, rather than spend money on a system for border control, etc, it is easier to point the fingers at anything and everything that smells of anti-foreigner!

I am very angry that politicians of both sides conveniently chose to ignore that we had all the powers needed to resolve these issues. It seems they are using Brexit as a trojan horse to implement some Victorian style society on us with those who would lose out the most welcoming it.

Yes they can be sent home but they have a right to free movement.

UK is not part of Schengen so is entitled to check passports on entry.

Unless the govt thinks it is too much trouble and expense and doesn't bother.

There are rumours that Theresa's mob wants free movement with Ireland and CIs.

So if your Rumanian flies to Dublin first he can walk into UK, no questions asked.

Until NI leaves the dUK.

Exclusion and removal from the United Kingdom 19.—(1) A person is not entitled to be admitted to the United Kingdom by virtue of regulation 11 if his exclusion is justified on grounds of public policy, public security or public health in accordance with regulation 21.

para 11, 5 is this clause:

You argue that there are cases that 19 and 21 allow foreign criminals to continue to commit criminal acts in UK, and you want me to find them for you?

Even if there are cases of successful appeals, that is no acceptable reason to stop trying to prevent the entry of known criminals.
