Room stat

Just to ratify a previous post.
With the ever rising cost of Gas, Is it better to have the boiler stat up high and the room stat (in the hall) set at say 18--20C so the boiler is modulating on the room stat.
Also my hall rad has a TRV fitted, so as not to conflict with the room stat would it be OK to just remove the top?

This is an age old question, try it and see what your gas bill is like

If the rad is in the same room as your room stat then a TRV shouldn't have been fitted. you can remove the top
