Is it law that you have to have a room thermostat either wired or wireless ?..been told by the gas safe bloke thats its law know and you have to have one..?...i have trvs on all rads except one...

Only if you are having a new system or replacement boiler.

Worth having one anyway, as it should pay for itself quickly in gas savings.

Trouble with just TRVs is that although they regulate individual rads, they don't turn the boiler off when the whole house is up to temp.

The other problem with TRVs is that when some people find the radiator to be somewhat less than boiling hot, they immediately decide there is something wrong with the valve and crank it wide open.

I think the important question is. "is the RGI telling a load of lies" or is the OP having a new boiler/system installed.

Viessmann vitodens 200s and vaillant boilers work well without a room stat when an outdoor sensor and weather compensation is installed.

Its madness to rely on just TRVs with a condensing boiler...if thats what you are thinking...
