Room thermostat

but there maybe a problem with your clock :?

if you remove the clock facia what are you greeted with?

if you could state the make and model, this would be helpful

when you say 3 sets do you mean 3 cores or 3 cables?

what is the configuration?

they are usually N L 1 3 for combis

Right found my multimeter and none of the wires in the stat are live? Have i blown a fuse, were would it be?

First check the fuse in the fused spur unit which is hopefully located somewhere near the boiler. Remove the fuse, set your meter to ohms range, you should see the resistance go low when you connect across the fuse.

the only fused spur is switched, and if you turn that off the power to the heating controler goes off

OK, doesn't sound like that fuse has popped. You have power entering the boiler but nothing going to the thermostat. Maybe worth posting on the plumbing forum with your make/model of boiler, see if one of the boys knows much about them?

go to boiler control connection strip. leave mains connected but disconnect external controls and put loop between connectors to short out external controls, heating should now work on boiler controls only, if heating dosnt work the main pcb is blown, sorry.

Ok had a plumber around and he confirms everything is ok with the boiler and switch. he sais its an electric fault.
As i understand the stat controls the water pump, is this the next place to check?

Ok i'l try that when i get home later. Do you not think it would be more to do with the pump or the wireing for it?
