why would you want to buy a new collet the one that comes with it will last longer than that macallister router.
The only reason I can see is if you want to use smaller cutters. I've got a dewalt 1/2" router and also have a 3/8" and a 1/4" collet that were made by makita (or at least that's what they came off) so I would assume that yes they are all the same size.
