Planning to run a new cable for Sky+ (I want to put it in so that it goes the route I want as opposed to sky just running it the simplst way) - it will run through a stone external wall into a cupboard.

what is the best way to run this? Just drill a large enough hole to fit the cable through the wall? Am planning on running a few more cables in the same position so I guess I should make a large enough hole for this a this time but what about heat loss/draughts?

Is there any better way to do this?

str - drill your hole to a suitable size then once the Sky bloke's been fill with builders' foam; this is soft enough for you to pick-out later when you want to run more cables (then re-foam or make good with mortar).

Sky-Plus requires two cables from the dish. These can be individual cables (WF100 or WC100), each requiring a 10mm hole, or a twin "shotgun" WF65 cable requiring just one 10mm hole. However, "shotgun" cable has high losses and the maximum length to be used with a Sky minidish is 20 metres.

The hole should be drilled from inside the house, angled slightly downwards.
The cable should run downwards from the hole outside ("drip loop") before being routed up to the dish.

Thanks for that - appreciate that two cables are required for Sky + - have an existing cable that is ran down the roof and front wall and then through the bottom of a window casement, so was planning to pull this back out and reroute in my preferred run, together with the new cable for when we upgrade to Sky+

One thing is that the elevation I plan to run down from the dish will eventually (at some point next year) become a internal wall in that we are having an extension built to this elevation.

Any problems with the cables then being hidden in a wall (or between two walls)? Should I run then in some trunking down the wall - for protection and incase of replacement?
