Routing Gas from Mains

Hi,

About to purchase a property soon.

The mains gas is located in the downstrair WC (Under staircase) and a gas boiler in the kitchen. Now I want to route gas to the kitchen for a cooker and for the fireplace in the living room.

The current owners didn't do this because they didn't want to uproot and upset the original woodflooring.

Whats the best way to do this

1) Do I get someone to route the gas from the mains to the kitchen and living room with the pipe(s) going around the rooms. ?
2) Would I be able to route the gas pipes to save on costs and then get a corgi registered enginner for the connections ?

Do gas pipes need ventilation ?

Yep, if they are boxed in. There is a reason but you should know that because you are a gas fitter obviously.

Surely not if they are gas tight....
I wonder how many gas installations still in use today where fitted by"amateurs" and have not killed anyone ?

I wonder how many gas installations fitted by amateurs have killed people & are killing people today.

OK we all realise that some things do need specialist knowledge and equipment but come on , A pipe is a pipe....It moves "stuff" from one place to another...

It can also build up over time in an enclosed space & just when the mixture of oxygen to gas is right with the flick of a light switch will explode taking you & your ignorance with it. Hopefully.

All I asked was if it's something that's possible.

Surley if I routed the pipes and then got Corgi guy to check everything and do the finial corrections\connections. then I don't think this would be illigal or unsafe as it is finially checked and connected by Corgi man.

You can do your own gas work as long as you're competent, which isn't defined, but if you get anything wrong you're clearly , then, not competent! Best to talk to a corgi first, and ask how much he'd charge to do the work. If you put it all in and used wrong clipping distances or something simple like that, it would be ..... unfortunate! You also for example have to use the right flux, fittings, spacings, size, deburring, etc etc etc.
