Opening of 2m steel size of 203x102x23 sat on 440x215x102 pad stones. Pillar either end of 600mm original single skin brick work supporting floor joists and and a single skin wall above going up to loft. This was done by a friend of mine. Is it ok

I was more concerned about the original pillars being strong enough to support the additional weight now the middle section is gone

9 inch by 2 inch joists bolted together in my loft. So much insulation I could survive the ice age. Overkill. Welcome to the building world and regs.
