My old cistern overflow pipe has started to leak at the base. So trying to locate a spare rubber washer so far failed. I've been to umpteen local plumbers merchants and drawn a blank.
The dimensions are 2mm deep, ID 26mm, OD 42mm.
Any advice much appreciated.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm in the same boat, so to speak, and find that the blanking plugs as mentioned above aren't the right size - they're too small. I know, I've just bought one. They seem to be for the inlet hole, which is a much smaller diameter. It's something to do with calling a physical hole which is actually approx ¾" diameter, a ½" one because its to take a ½" pipe fitting! The OPs problem is that the physical hole he wants a new washer for is 1" diameter, and the rules of plumbing calls that a ¾" hole 'cos it takes a ¾" pipe fitting. The Flomaster blanking plugs are only for the ½" hole, being ¾" diameter and I' ve found that it's far too small to effectively and safely block the 1" diameter hole, that is used for the overflow pipe. I think that the OP would have to buy a new internal overflow pipe, as that comes with the elusively correct size of washer. I've just googled, and you have to search for ¾ “ BSP washer or blanking plug.

I came across this forum about my old cistern overflow pipe leeking also.

Old toilet installed back in 1997 never had parts replaced before until October 2022.

First I needed new Flomasta bottom-entry plastic thread fill valve got from Homebase looked like someone used it before as the thread was damaged at bottom but still installed in place which started leeking so replaced one from scewfix with no problems.

Second I need to replaced old Dual-Flush Syphon as the cistern tank waste pipe is hidden I need to remove tank of wall then add new Flomasta Dual-Flush and then attach back to wall no leeks.

Last the old overflow pipe bottom entry but the ballcock was sticking so loosen backnut to replace pipe to better angle then started leeking and found old black rubber waster was wrapped not flat on
cistern floor so water escaping out.

So replaced with new overflow pipe and no more leeks.

Many thanks and finding this forum that helped my overflow pipe leek.

All the best
