Bank charges!

Used to pay £X.

Then paid £X x2

Then changed accounts (with Santander) specifically to reduce the fee and reverted to paying £X.

Now they've doubled it again.

Seriously thinking of jacking them in.

Which banks are good?

i think for every one who says xyz bank is great, someone else will say xyz is guff, due to us all having different service from them locally
i hate halifax cause they bumped me for £1k charges when i transferred £'s from my account to £'s in my sons Prague account (becasue my sons account only accepts payment in £'s (and why we did it that way) they charged me £500 to change it to prague money then £500 to change it back to £'s you couldnt make it up, so i binned them and went to TSB for personal and HSBC for business and have had great service from both so far, business account has 1 year free banking

Isn't Spanish bank Santander due to go down the swanney, along with Spain itself?

I realise there's a compo scheme, but couldn't be doing with the aggro.

No
I have been with them since the Abbey days, no problems except speaking to people in India. Never have any charges.
I also use Halifax, show of ****, as said, one mans meat another mans poison

Same here. Rarely a problem and the occasional glitch has been handled well and sorted out quickly.

Thanks for the comments so far.

We didn't join Santander. We joined when it was A & L, ex- Girobank. That's why we joined. If we had known some incompetent pr@ts like them were going to take over, we'd have gone elsewhere. They are hopeless.

A lot of it is the disease that afflicts all modern businesses: poor service. Go in on a Friday lunch time. There's two tills. Only one manned. Huge queue. Have they not worked out there's going to be a rush on on a Friday lunch?

In fact, before they had a refit, they had three tills, two were manned.
What bright spark thought, I know let's fit two and just man one?

Often, when I am in there there's a big argument going on. They don't see fit to usher the complainant into a side room. No, the argument goes on in front of all the other customers.

Think we'll jump ship.

The branch in Chorlton always seems well-manned.
mind you, I rarely go in nowadays as 99% is done on-line. I suppose the difference is that I don't have to deal with paying cash into an account.

There are 2 branches in Enfield town 100 yds apart, 1 is always busy, the other isnt.
Most of what is required is done online or there paying in machines which are good.

What gets me is this having to close & open accounts for the interest rates, why the F &^% they cant do it...But we know why, because there are a lot of people out there that dont do it & get 0.5% instead of 3.5% etc
