Nope. You can run anything up to a 13A (~3kW) off either of the sockets (even if one is spurred off the other) - simultaneously off both if you want.

I should keep it on the ring - a better job.

Would make adding another socket in the future (you never know mother) considerably easier too.

Im quessing the two sockets are close, id be inclined to use couplers, nipples and bushes, then just strip the tails long in the first box long enough for the second socket and loop back to the first box all on the ring

turns out I had room in the end for a double socket, so problem solved
