On page 3 is the key statement

The following paragraph is the key to this optimisation.
There should be only one path for the ADSL signal - from your master socket to your modem. There should be no blind alleys caused by t-junctions or branches on the way. All of these blind alleys should be closed off with a filter so that the ADSL signal cannot pass down them.

When they say that the maximum distance is 50 meters is that the complete distance the extension can run or is that the maximum distance between the extensions.

Guidance (for phone wiring) used to be:

50 metres from the NTE to the furthest socket
100 metres max total cable used for extensions.

If you "pull" the ADSL signal off the telephone wiring and onto its own wire pair at the NTE 5 by fitting a ADSL filter front plate that separates phone wiring from ADSL wiring then you can run ( within reason ) as much phone wiring as you like.

The cable from the BT telephone exchange to your house can be as much as 5 miles long or as short as a few hundred yards. So the length of telephone wiring in your house in not that critical provided the ADSL signal is not on the same wiring.

Some cable / fibre supplied telephone service may have restrictions on the maximum length of internal wiring before the service degrades.

2 plus 3 equals 5.... Don't forget this and using terminals 2, 3 and 5 from your BT master socket you may run to extension onto extension.

Utilising ADSL filters in my home I have no problems plugging the modem or the phone into the extensions.

The mini-trunking sounds a bit uggh!! Looks like merde...

There are some lovely scotia type mouldings for audio/visual cables that are not a pain to look at! ;)

Cable runs do suffer from signal loss over long distances - there are some wireless links on the market that are lined up with each other and may be used from the side of a farmhouse to an office a few hundred yards away.
