I have just removed tile from my kitchen and dining room. There is still a thin, uneven layer of thinset on the concrete slab. Can I sand this down? If so, should I use a belt sander?

you could lots of dust !!!!!

I used a chipping hammer with a mud blade. This worked very well.
Now on to the tiling!
