Sanding new brake discs

T'other day, I was on a very new EV double-decker bus, which was tailing an identical same route number bus, travelling on open roads between two north Yorkshire towns. What caught my attention, about the bus in front, was how often the brake-lights were coming on. There was nothing ahead of the bus, no need for the driver to brake, I wouldn't be touching the brakes at all. Other than the frequent braking, the bus was 'making good progress'. The braking, is what I would describe a 'comfort braking'. The driver derives some reassurance, from touching the brakes.

Yes, we often see that with cars here in Cumbria. The brake lights go on but the car doesn't slow appreciably. As you say, just "comfort braking".
 
Of course they do , they are racing.
Do you fit new brakes before every trip?

Of course not! Car manufacturers design brakes with speed adjustment in mind. The type approval regulations even specifically demand it. They usually last for many thousands of "speed adjustments"... :rolleyes:
