Sanding plaster

Hi. Have searched previous posts but not found answer. Have had some walls chased out for electrics. Dad has filled in chases, bit untidy/uneven finish with plaster on wall either side of chases. Had planned to smooth with belt sander and finish by hand but belt sander is scratching quite a bit, bit worried that this will be still visible after painting. Should I try different approach? Cheers

Plaster is not designed to be sanded and will scratch, at this point you would need to sand-down to level, and repair scratches, for this remedial work I would purchase some easi-fill, which can then be applied and sanded when dry.

Thanks Prentice, to sand down to level, should I use a block and do by hand, belt will cause further damage? I have 3 chases from switch to ceiling to do so want to other 2 as best as can, cheers

Totally up to you, the easifill will sort out any damage.
You can purchase other brands that are ready mixed at the sheds, if you only have a little surface area to repair, or buy a bag of easi-fill and send what you have left to me.
