I'm laying 600x900 sandstone pavers tomorrow, and have seen recommendations for 8mm to 10mm spacing. But Now I'm looking at the cost of grouting them!
I'm thinking of much thinner, perhaps 5mm gaps. The edges are quite 'natural' and wavy so it may actually be difficult to even be very precise.
Is there any reason to leave larger gaps?
As the stone is quite pale grey, I don't want a brown coloured grout line, and the brush-in EASYJoint is so expensive I was wondering if I can make a mortar mix that would dry greyer, adding lime or something to the mix? But a friend said the brush in ones are the way to go to avoid cracking etc.

Any thoughts? Anyone had success with making a grey mortar grout? Or recommend a brush-in product? And would I be OK to leave a slimmer gap?

Thanks
