Nothing special. Taking mortages or borrowing anything is living beyond ones means. If you dont have cash for something then it means you cant afford it. Simply.

You seem to be lumping mortgages in with personal loans peterorl. Without mortgages , there would be practically no housing market. How many people do you think, have the cash to buy a house outright? Not many I reckon.
