Sash window weights clashing

Ok I’ll have a look. I think I checked weeks ago

These weights have a hook at the top.
Some hooks are offset which is good.
Some are Centered

Anyway compairing left (ok) and right (clash) the front weight isn’t going out to the front as far as it should.

There is a wooden thing stopping it.

Anyway it’s a hot day so I better paint.

May chamfer the bottom of the weight off to help it past

Chamfer cast iron?

Have chamfered the edges with a grinder. An improvement.

Welldone.

How long did that take?

The only time I have used an angle grinder on cast iron was to cut a bath tub into 4 bits. Took ages but I guess it was the ceramic finish that slowed the process.

Not long.

Couple of minutes.

Also did the top of the one it was clashing on.

I’ve got the window back together now thank you people.

Ahh is that concrete?
Could be stone. I have seen that once or twice in districts where building stone is quarried. In any case, wouldn't concrete have aggregates visible?

off the page but fwiw:
anyone else did C&G Craft Cert for Carpentry and Joinery back in the day?
Trade tests included building a double hung box frame, glazing the sashes, and fitting it into a brick wall opening.
Also knocking up a gunstock stile door - glazing and hanging it, and fitting it out - no power tools allowed for either test, and all to be done with r/s ripped material, on the bench.

i learned how to use a Try Plane then but never used it again.
